It seems that any specialist can effectively perform several tasks simultaneously, but this is rather an illusion. As a rule, each task takes much more time and mistakes are made more often. But how then to increase the workload without compromising the quality of work - we share simple tips that will help you change your approach to an endless list of tasks.

Take inventory of your tasks and eliminate time wasters
First, it's worth determining which groups of tasks you perform and how much time each of them takes. Often, we simply don't notice how many hours are spent on secondary and not particularly important tasks - for example, checking work email or chats.

Also, watch yourself, how much time you spend on social networks and messengers. According to Mediascope , Russians spend an average of 3 hours 41 minutes on the social media marketing service Internet, during which time they watch videos, scroll through the news feed, play games and shop. And this is about the same amount of time as our brain can work productively and not lose concentration.

If you realize that you are wasting a lot of resources, you will hardly be able to learn to work productively in one day. Try to review your schedule and allocate at least an extra hour for useful things. Gradually, you will notice progress in your work, which will motivate you to new feats.

Understand that you can't do everything perfectly
If you think that perfectionism is an advantage, it is not. The image inspired by movies, in which a professional is meticulous in everything and spends hours perfecting some detail, is detached from reality. As a rule, such people focus on minor moments that take up a lot of resources. As a result, they do not perform tasks better than their “ordinary” colleagues.

Effective specialists make many drafts, are not afraid to show unsuccessful tasks and improve them if necessary. The desire to do everything perfectly only slows down the work and makes you stand still.

If you are a perfectionist, try to focus on the fact that you simply need to finish the task, not bring it to perfection. Most of the time, people don’t even notice the imperfect elements that only the specialist knows about. It can also help to analyze your results a couple of days later to evaluate them with a fresh look and make sure the work was done well.

If you check how many tasks you do in 20-40 minutes of focused work, you will be surprised at how much you can accomplish in a short period of time. Now think about what you can achieve in a couple of hours.

The brain needs about 30 minutes on average to fully concentrate on a task, then it works by inertia. If you do not take breaks and do not get distracted by other tasks, then at this pace you can develop part of a project, and sometimes completely complete an important task. Try the Pomodoro method to develop concentration - 20 minutes of work, 5 minutes of rest. Over time, increase the interval to 30, and then to 40 minutes, the time for a break does not change.

You can learn how to make a plan for the day, set priorities correctly and work with pleasure in our free online course “ Time Management ”.
